October 8, 2021 Update

Hello Music Lovers.

I know it’s been some time, but there’s something on my mind. That is a lyric from Where Do Broken Hearts Go by Whitney Houston.  It helps me get started on this long overdue update on Rhonda Apple and Dale Britt.

First, we are incredibly grateful to all our listeners and fans who supported us for over twenty years. Second, we are alive and kicking, despite the pandemic and the new normal. Third, we are no longer playing music regularly together, or seeking gigs, and we are okay with that.

Dale considers himself retired from playing piano, but would gladly jump at the invitation to do any jazz trio gig. Dale has posted NUMEROUS videos on his YouTube channel, Dale Britt Music and Jazz.  Visit his YouTube channel if you need a fix:  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCm6zzKaczxbK-nTnjWLps3Q

I had the summer off work but had fulltime care of my niece and nephew for five months. Now they are back with their mother and I am looking for employment. I am waiting on the Lord to lead me into the job He has for me, just like He did in 2014. I am practicing with the Blue Dog Café’s owners (Gary Weber and Todd Crosby) for the Blue Dog Christmas Show. That show will be December 9 and 10 (and possibly an afternoon matinee on Dec. 12) at the Island Theater in Chincoteague Island, Virginia. I will post details once I get them. I have my own Facebook page for my singing career, listed as Rhonda Apple Vocals. Please LIKE my page to keep up with my gigs, however few they may be during this season.

....Or you may choose to come hear what may be Apple & Britt’s last gig together, which is next Friday, October 15, 2021, at Just In Thyme Restaurant in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

Address: 38163 Robinsons Drive, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971

302-227-3100

Dinner reservations strongly recommended. It is not a large venue and the food is very, very good.

We will be playing with John Ewart on horns and Ed Dawley on upright bass. In fact, John invited us to join him on this gig. We are so grateful!

Dale and I have been preparing a set list of mostly upbeat songs to satisfy your jazz cravings with the Great American Songbook and a few crossover songs. No requests from our former song list this gig.

I am excited to be invited to play for this owner, John, who actually was one of two local restaurateurs that gave me my start singing professionally in 1989. I am looking forward to a really fun night of music, friendship, camaraderie and great food.

Because Apple & Britt no longer work regularly, this may be the last opportunity to hear us live. YouTube has lots of our videos, but they are not the same as being there in person. Keep an eye on and LIKE our Apple & Britt Facebook page for updates, videos and photos.  https://www.facebook.com/Apple-Britt-147068391974438

If you have never eaten at Just In Thyme you need to experience John's delicious recipes that have kept him in business for so many years.

Here’s a link to the Gallery section of his website so you can get a look at the bar, food and desserts:  https://www.justinthymerestaurant.com/?page_id=566

Come have fun with us. Come enjoy a great weekend of jazz and blues at the annual Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival.  There is so much good food and music at almost every restaurant and bar that you will have difficulty deciding which one to attend. I always do. Bring your walking shoes and work out gear so you can justify all the extra calories.

Apple & Britt have been fortunate to play for you for over 21 years. We hope to see you in person again someday, or hear from you via Facebook or email. Please keep in touch!

With a song in my heart,

Rhonda Apple
