March 4, 2010 Update
Greetings Music Lovers,
I enjoyed the snow for the most part but am eager for Spring to make its glorious appearance. Something exciting has made its appearance here: our newest CD! Titled “Playin’ in the Alley” after Dale’s original blues of the same name our sixth release is probably our best yet. We are blessed to have Alan Dale on drums and his friend Tom Baldwin on bass for this recording. Wait till you hear how awesome they sound with us! Dale and I are still blown away. This CD is $15 and available from Dale or myself at any of our gigs. Link Shields and his wife came to our gig last Saturday night at Phillips in Baltimore’s Harbor Place and were the FIRST to get a copy! Eventually, hopefully next week, I’ll have them available for purchase online at www.cdbaby.com, just like our other CDs. Or, if you prefer, you can contact me through this website (using the Contact Us page) and we can work out a direct purchase via snail mail.
Yesterday our niche of old standards and jazz was put to good use at our local hospital’s Junior Auxiliary Board Spring Luncheon. The theme was “Puttin’ on the Ritz”, and don’t you know Dale and I learned that song just for the occasion. So, there’s another tune you can request!
Friday, March 19th we are playing for the Ocean City Downtown Committee Public Art fundraiser. This is a black tie affair. It will be held (in Ocean City, Maryland) at the beautiful Courtyard Marriot hotel on 15th St. in the famous Captain’s Table restaurant (1500 North Baltimore Avenue, Ocean City, MD 21842-3631 (410) 289-7191.) I’m gonna wear one of my nicest gowns with gloves and lots of bling. Saturday, March 20th we’ll be back in Baltimore at the 5-star Intercontinental Harbor Court hotel (550 Light St., Baltimore, Maryland 21202-6099 410-234-0550)
in the Explorers Lounge from 8pm to midnight. www.harborcourt.com I love singing in this classy room. The elegance of the gig makes it worth the very long workday. This is a monthly engagement. They have valet parking available and there is some street parking as well as parking garages within walking distance.
Saturday, April 10th Dale and I have been invited back to play at the Wicomico Yacht Club. Close to home this gig is always fun with friendly people who all know each other.
In May we will return to our regular gig at Phillips Beach Plaza hotel at 13th St. in Ocean City, Maryland, when they are scheduled to reopen for the 2010 season. Our schedule in May will be just weekends (Friday and Saturday), with June adding more nights, although without me for most of it. I’ll be on a cross-country road trip with my mother until June 24th. God willing I’ll be back to work at Phillips with Dale on June 25th.
